Oct 21, 2026: Beyond Civility: From Difference to Dialogue at Ochre Court

What does it mean to move beyond simply being “civil” toward people who are different from us and instead learn how to genuinely engage across difference?
This interactive workshop invites participants to explore how cultural identities, lived experiences, & assumptions shape the ways we understand ourselves and one another. The open dialogue creates space for participants to consider how differences in culture, race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic background, ability, gender & sexuality, political beliefs, and other aspects of identity can influence communication, relationships, belonging, and participation within a university community.

For nearly five years, Russia has waged open warfare against Ukraine. Casualty figures are staggering even as violence slips dangerously into NATO’s Eastern periphery. Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul argues that the war in Ukraine is part of a bigger struggle between autocrats and democrats in which American power must be tied to the central tenets of American democracy. Join us for a conversation about Russia’s war in Ukraine, the resilience of the Ukrainian people and a celebration of Ukrainian culture with a special performance of Ukrainian classical music by Suzanna Laramee.

Chair Massages - Massages can provide a number of other benefits, including better sleep, less stress and anxiety, reduced muscle tension, increased immunity, musculoskeletal pain relief, increased range of motion, decreased heart rate and blood pressure. During your chair massage, you will sit in a special chair that supports your entire body. You will remain fully clothed as your massage therapist works on your shoulders, neck, arms, back, and hands. If you register and can no longer attend as we come upon the event date, please remove your name so other employees may sign up.

Stop the Bleed - This workshop provides an abbreviated overview of the ACS Stop the Bleed® program, covering key information and techniques from the full course. Bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death after injury. Get trained to stop bleeding! Learn to control severe bleeding with 3 basic actions: direct pressure, wound packing and applying a tourniquet.

Reiki sessions will be available in the Ochre Court Ballroom from 1pm - 2pm! Walk ins only. Each session will last between 5 and 10 minutes.
