All other registrants, click HERE , and then Register for Jazz Camp  You will be prompted to create a user name and password. You can then return to this site to complete registration.

 

 

Audition Instructions by instrument are below.

  • Upload auditions to YouTube using these instructions:

    How to upload a video to Youtube

    Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Flute, Clarinet – 

  • Play an etude (jazz or classical) that you have worked on.
  • Perform a jazz selection that includes an improvised solo.
  • Improvise at least three choruses on this Bb blues track: Blues in B Flat
    OR
    Improvise at least three choruses using the Bb blues track at approximately 160bpm on iReal. Additional sources of B Flat Blues Backing Tracks are acceptable

 

Bass – 

Play an etude (jazz or classical) that you have worked on. Perform a jazz selection that includes an improvised solo–it is preferred that you record yourself with a play along (Aebersold, YouTube, or iReal, etc.). Walk at least three choruses of F blues at approximately 160bpm.

 

Drums – 

Play a piece (preferably with a play along) that uses a beat in the Latin style–including bossa, samba, or mozambique, etc. Play a piece (preferably with a play along) that displays your ability to solo in a jazz style. Play at least three choruses of a 12 bar blues at approximately 160bpm in the swing style.

 

Guitar, Piano, and Vibes – 

Play an etude (jazz or classical) that you have worked on. Perform a jazz selection that includes an improvised solo. Improvise at least three choruses on this Bb blues track: Blues in B Flat
OR
Improvise at least three choruses using the Bb blues track at approximately 160bpm on iReal.

 

Voice-

Sing two songs of your choice – one up tempo, one ballad
