Thomas J. Sugrue, the Julius Silver Professor of History and Social & Cultural Analysis at New York University, as well as Director of the NYU Cities Collaborative, will deliver the 5th-Annual John E. McGinty Lecture in History on Thursday, April 27, 2023, 6:30 pm, in Bazarsky Lecture Hall, O'Hare Academic Building. A Bancroft Prize-winning historian and leading authority on twentieth-century American politics, urban history, civil rights, and race, Sugrue will speak on “Sweet Land of Liberty: The Forgotten Struggle for Civil Rights in the North.” Copies of the book will be for sale on site, and Professor Sugrue will sign books following the lecture.
