https://salve.libcal.com/event/14352647Join us for our first faculty lecture of the 2025-2026 academic year! On Thursday, September 18th at 4 p.m., we will gather in the library atrium to hear from Dr. Troy Catterson. Troy Catterson is an associate professor of philosophy and directs the Ph.D. program in Humanities and Technology. He received his Ph.D. from Boston University, focusing his research in foundational issues in mathematical logic, metaphysics and epistemology. His most recent publications apply logical modeling to the concept of God, attempting to make sense of some of the paradoxes that seem to arise in the concept of a perfect being.
About his lecture, he wrote: "In this lecture I will present the results of some of my research during my sabbatical. I am in the process of developing a model of the Trinity that pictures it as the result of God, who is outside of time, traveling into time and then back out of it again. I argue that such a process would divide God's consciousness into three personal centers of consciousness that could exist in interpersonal relationship with each other. I then show how current scientific theories allow for the possibility of this kind of time travel without having to assume the possibility of time travel into the past."
