Since before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has rattled the nuclear saber—reminding the west that Russia has nuclear weapons and hinting at their possible use. In recent weeks, the rhetoric has intensified as Russian losses on the battlefield have increased. In this roundtable, we’ll consider what Russian leaders have said, and what options the West might have in a period of nuclear brinksmanship not seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
