Best-selling authors and award-winning writers will present guest readings and craft talks during a week-long summer workshop being hosted June 22-30, 2024. These events are being hosted by the Newport MFA, Salve Regina’s master of fine arts in creative writing program.

All events are free and open to the Salve Regina community as well as the general public, and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.

The final opening reading will be held on June 26th at 7:30 p.m. by Pulitzer Prize Winner for Olive Kiteridge  Elizabeth Strout and bestselling, Oprah Book Club author Andre Dubus lll.

Elizabeth Strout is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Lucy by the Sea; Oh William!; Olive, Again; Anything Is Possible, winner of the Story Prize; My Name Is Lucy Barton; The Burgess Boys; Olive Kitteridge, winner of the Pulitzer Prize; Abide with Me; and Amy and Isabelle, winner of the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize. She has also been a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Orange Prize in London. Her new novel Tell Me Everything will be published later this year. She lives in Maine.

Andre Dubus III’s nine books include the New York Times’ bestsellers House of Sand and Fog, The Garden of Last Days, and his memoir, Townie. His most recent novel, Such Kindness, was published in June 2023, and a collection of personal essays, Ghost Dogs: On Killers and Kin, is forthcoming in March 2024. He is also the editor of Reaching Inside: 50 Acclaimed Authors on 100 Unforgettable Short Stories, (Godine, 2023.)

Mr. Dubus has been a finalist for the National Book Award, and has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, The National Magazine Award for Fiction, two Pushcart Prizes, and is a recipient of an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature. His books are published in over twenty-five languages, and he teaches at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
