Best-selling authors and award-winning writers will present guest readings and craft talks during a week-long winter workshop hosted by Newport MFA, Salve's master of fine arts in creative writing program. All events are free and open to the Salve Regina community as well as the general public, and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.

Hester Kaplan is the author of the newly released memoir, Twice Born, as well as novels and story collections including The Edge of Marriage, winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in literary journals and anthologies, including The Best American Short Stories series. She is the recipient of two NEA awards, and was named a Mark Twain Fellow for Twice Born.
