About this Event
36 Ochre Point Ave, Newport , RI 02840
https://salve.edu/french-film-festivalWe are excited to present the 2024 edition of Salve Regina University’s French Film Festival. From our classic film, La Reine Margot (1994) to our contemporary films, this year we explore the boundaries of human nature and societal norms. Most of our films are focused on transgression, from theSt. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre during France’s wars of religion or forbidden love in the eighteenth-century to two crime comedies, set respectively in the 1930s and the present day.
On opening night, a wine-and-cheese reception will be held after our first film, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, while our Sunday matinee, Queen Margot, will be preceded by a pastry-and-coffee reception.
All films will be screened on campus in the O’Hare Academic Building’s Bazarsky Lecture Hall.
To avoid lines at the door, patrons are encouraged to buy a festival pass online. Passes and tickets for individual screenings will also be available at the door (cash or check only). For general festival information, email frenchfilmfestival@salve.edu.
