Based on a true story, the film chronicles the relationship of a high school teacher who decides to enter her unruly class in a national competition on the French resistance and deportations of World War II. This touching story makes important connections between that traumatic era and current debates about identity, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, and laïcité—the separation of church and state in the French Republic.
