Humanities Ph.D. student, Loretta Fois, will defend her dissertation titled "Thirdness as a Tool for Socio-Ethical Transformation in Group Improvisational Play". Her research examines the socio-ethical complexities of group improvisational play, developing the concept of thirdness, a dialectical and emergent phenomenon of entangled agency.  It diffracts Barad's agential realism with Gadamer's hermeneutics of play to argue for group provisation as an ethically transformative event.
