Humanities Ph.D. student, Kimberly Smith, will defend her dissertation titled "Uploading the Future: A Content Analysis of Whole Brain Emulation in Science Fiction".  This dissertation analyzes how whole brain emulation is portrayed in science fiction and examines how these narratives may influence public perceptions, ethical views, and acceptance of the technology.
