Proposals to Reform the Supreme Court of the United States
The founders created a Supreme Court to offer final interpretation of laws and enforce fidelity to the Constitution, regardless of politics or the personal interests of presidents or members of Congress. After nearly 250 years, however, members of Congress have pushed for fundamental reform in the composition of the court—establishing terms and limits for service on the highest bench, and requiring the same kinds of ethics disclosures imposed on other senior government officials. In this roundtable we’ll explore the nature of the existing system and the various proposals to reform it.
